🔥 How It All Started 🔥

In 1998, Americo "Micky" Sedillo and Ester Garcia looked around Manatee County and saw too many kids stuck on the sidelines — kept out of soccer by language barriers, registration fees they couldn't afford, and a general lack of opportunity. So they did something about it. They founded the Manasota Youth Soccer League right at Lincoln Park, 501 17th Street East in Palmetto, FL, starting with just 3 teams.

Micky personally recruited players from rural corners of Manatee and Sarasota counties, and when a kid didn't have a ride to practice, he'd sometimes drive them there himself. He'd previously been involved with "North River Soccer" back in the early 1990s, but MYSL became his life's work — built to make sure Hispanic and underprivileged kids had a real shot at playing the game they loved.

"To give every child in Manatee County a chance to play and enjoy the game of soccer. We focus on practices that help kids grow, learn new skills, and think creatively. Through games and competition, we teach them how to face challenges, build confidence, and prepare for success both on and off the field."
